When a special election is within the margin of error for a congressional seat what do Democrats do about it in Mississippi? The DCCC passes out fliers on the eve of the election attempting to tie the Republican candidate to the KKK.

As it turns out the flier was referencing a statue of Jefferson Davis, who was never in the KKK. As Mississippi First Congressional District's blog points out:

But in reality, the statue was of Jefferson Davis who was not the founder and never in the KKK. In fact, another place that has a statue of Jefferson Davis is the United States Capitol Building. Jefferson Davis is one of the two statues representing Mississippi, along with James Z. George. Furthermore, Senator Thad Cochran uses the desk of Jefferson Davis in the Capitol, one of two "heritage desks" (the other goes to Massachusetts Senior Senator and belonged to Daniel Webster).

And I'd just bet the DCCC doesn't put out such fliers criticizing Congressman Gene Taylor (D-MS), whose congressional district contains Beauvoir, Jefferson Davis' retirement home and presidential library. Maybe that's because Rep. Taylor actually received federal funding for this museum. Oh, I do believe I smell some hypocrisy stinking up this election.

Just when you think that Democrats can't stoop any lower, they produce garbage like this. This is just pure incendiary bunk. And aren't the liberals always the ones who accuse white Republicans of playing the race card to win votes? Voters should reject this type of nasty campaign trickery.
