There have been so many things clunking around in my brain this morning, I'm not sure where to begin. And I'm excited. I have some reactions to things in the news today. I hope you will share your thoughts in the comments.
1) Former President Jimmy Carter made some very undignified remarks yesterday about John McCain's POW experience and highlighting it on the campaign trail.
2) John McCain selected a conservative vice-presidential running mate. It's official - Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK).
My Reaction: I couldn't be more thrilled with his choice. I've told many people and even blogged that I have not been happy with the choice of McCain and was considering a 3rd party vote. However, I have always clarified those remarks by saying that my support for McCain in November was entirely dependent on his choice for a running mate and how strongly I felt about the selection of judges.
I usually try to be a big picture thinker. I was interested in McCain's VP choice because that is usually the person who gets the nod from the party to follow the lead of the president after their terms expire. Palin represents the future of the party and conservatives. The combination of a McCain-Palin ticket combines the best of both on one ticket. [I will elaborate later in a separate post explaining why I'm so impressed with Governor Palin.]
Nominating a young, conservative woman with executive experience is the smartest thing McCain has done. If this is a taste of what we can expect from a President McCain, I approve.
The VP selection is a woman! I'm beaming.
3) Barack Obama's campaign issued a statement to respond to Palin's nomination.
My Predictions: McCain's poll numbers will get a nice bounce from this selection. Conservatives will unite with the party. Moonbats' heads are exploding everywhere.

"John McCain was able to weave in his experience in a Vietnam prison camp, no matter what the question was," Carter said. "It's much better than talking about how he's changed his total character between being a senator, a kind of a maverick … and his acquiescence in the last few months with every kind of lobbyist pressure that the right-wing Republicans have presented."My Reaction: Why shouldn't he mention in response to nearly everything? When there is any crisis in a person's life we always refer to things such as "before she was born", "after his death", "during the war", "when I lived in...". Senator McCain has earned the right to speak about his POW experiences any time he wants. It was an experience that shaped who he is and there isn't a day in his life that he doesn't reflect upon those moments in his life. It's how it should be. Carter should spend his time reflecting on peanuts.

Barack Obama's campaign is blasting John McCain for putting "the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency."My Reaction: I beg your pardon? Obama criticizes Palin stating she has zero foreign policy experience? [pause for hysterical laughter] That is rich. Let me refresh your memory. The Democrat Party nominated a senator with zero foreign policy experience for PRESIDENT, not Vice-President. Talk about reaching.
My Predictions: McCain's poll numbers will get a nice bounce from this selection. Conservatives will unite with the party. Moonbats' heads are exploding everywhere.

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY DANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am absolutely CHUFFED about Palin. I've been Googling around since early this morning.
I wasn't even sure booze could make me pull the lever for McCain. It was a daily struggle. Now, I'm positively enthused!
Palin/that old guy '08!
This pick for VP has to be giving the donks fits. Here's a woman who actually worked her way up in the political game from the ground floor. Not because of who she was married to. And she didn't carpetbag her way into her position either.
This just couldn't be better!!
As for Carter - he lost any dignity he might have had years ago.
I think the greatest thing is that if McCain wins then Hillary will have to look at VP Palin presiding over the Seante for 4 years.
As for Jimma Cotter, he is __________________ fill in the blank.
Rick, that thought never crossed my mind, but that is definitely an irony to put a grin on my face.
