Not only do I want him to be the new chairman of the RNC, but I'll even give money to them again if they choose him.
NEWT Gingrich

NEWT Gingrich
“If a majority of the RNC thought he was needed, he would accept that appointment,” said Randy Evans’ Gingrich’s close friend and legal counsel. “He fully appreciates the urgency of the moment.”I have been reading some of his books, subscribe to his emails and think he knows exactly how to unify the party with a strong message. One of the strongest points in his book Real Change is that the GOP is not reaching out to people who are not in our "big tent" now by better explaining why our party is better. And we need to stop dodging issues that new voters want to address (climate change, education choices, Sudan, health care choice, etc...). It isn't about compromising party principles on issues which are controversial or previously 'off limits.' Instead it is understanding the concerns of a nation and addressing them using our long-held views and convincing people we can make it happen. But first we have to earn their trust.

“The RNC has to do some soul-searching and decide what level of change is necessary,” Evans said. “If that answer is bold, energetic change led by someone who has done it before, then Newt would be a good choice.”
Ed Morrissey points out:
Most importantly, Gingrich understands the technological tools that escaped the GOP in 2008. American Solutions has established a very impressive grassroots structure for policy, which could easily be adopted and adapted to the RNC.Gingrich gets it. I get it. Now the RNC needs to get it - FAST!

Unles Reagan rises from the grave, Newt is all we have left to lead us out of the self-inflicted wilderness we are in now. We need power in the lead of the RNC.
And you know what else we need? John McCain to just go Independant and quit trying to convince people he's a Republican.
What did Reagan say: All it takes to make a new crop of conservatives is about 7-8 years of liberalism. (That is loosely quoted from my memory!)
I *heart* Newt! I'll never forget the smackdown he laid on that reporter after a speech at the RNC this year. That was so friggen hilarious, I could DIE!!
Why can't we communicate better with the non-GOP'ers? Why can't we play the game? Why can't republicans stop being such pussies? Aaaaaargh!
I swear, the GOP is dead to me right now...
But Newtie might persuade me back. Maybe. I'm not sure he's the answer. I respect him like crazy, but I'm not sure he can teach us how to talk to stupid people.
Oops, did I really say that?
And it's not happening, it appears to be Michael Steele instead. Aside from losing a senate race and being a talking head for two years, I don't think he's the right pick unless there's a lot more I don't know.
Why do Republicans love men that abandon their wives? Newt Gingrich, John McCain, Rudy Guilliani....they all have such character!
Minibutmany,
I don't love any men who abandon their wives. I don't love any women who abandon their husbands. I am not trying to recruit Newt for Husband of the Year. I'm not trying to recruit him as a spouse. I am however interested in Newt's visionary ideas as relates to the GOP and its mission. He has been a proven leader in the past to accomplish such things for the party. Since Haley Barbour is busy being governor in Mississippi, he isn't available for the job he once held as RNC Chairman.
Democrats are fixated with presidents who cheat on their spouses in the Oval Office and elsewhere. I could go on but I think it is sufficient to say that neither party can wear the morality badge.
I agree. We need Newt. We also need the RINOs to leave.
