It appears more strides are being made by scientists to use adult stem cells in lieu of using embryonic stem cells. Here's some more good news.
Researchers said on Sunday they had found a safer way to transform ordinary skin cells into powerful stem cells in a move that could eventually remove the need to use human embryos.Even the scientist who cloned Dolly the Sheep believes this progress, combined with other similar research on adult stem cells, could prove to be useful in regenerative medicine, which many hope can one day cure many diseases.
It is the first time that scientists have turned skin cells into induced pluripotent stem cells or iPS cells -- which look and act like embryonic stem cells -- without having to use viruses in the process.
